Can a flower farm help restore native ecosystems?

It can!

We are a mother-daughter endeavor modeling our flower farming after nature, so every bouquet does more good than harm.

You may be asking yourself, do bees actually burrow? The answer is YES! Also known as “ground digging” bees, these native California solitary bees often inhabit an already existing burrow made by another burrowing creature such as a gopher.

Typically, when we say the word “bee” the image that comes to mind is that of fuzzy little honeybees working together to make us all some sweet stuff. But bees – species, habits, and habitats – in reality, go way beyond this image. In fact, California alone is estimated to have a whopping 1,600 species of native bees. We want to bring awareness to the diversity of the various bee species, as well as other native organisms, and the benefits they provide.

We firmly believe the health of our planet depends on a global goal: getting nature back to nature. In order to do that, we must foster the health of our ecosystems beginning with our own little native species in our own little native habitats. Bees are essential to this goal.

Here at Burrowing Bee Garden Farms, we strive to provide a habitat that supports our native California solitary burrowers, as well as many other under-appreciated pals above and below ground. Our hope is that the support and love we provide ALL of our visitors (that includes you) will benefit the larger ecosystem, and in turn, help get nature back to nature.
